San Diego Continuing Education's North City Campus (NCC)

 

The North City Campus offers hundreds of short-term, hands-on classes each semester on practical computer-based topics, plus certificate programs for professional development. The instructors are real-world professionals; many are published and nationally recognized as leaders in their industry. Their dedication to their profession creates a unique energy and passion not easily found.

 

The North City Campus is a model site for free, adult education. Classes offered at this campus are through San Diego Continuing Education, part of the San Diego Community College District.

 

San Diego’s North City Campus is a member of the international New Media Consortium (NMC). The NMC is an international, nonprofit consortium of leading colleges, universities, museums, corporations, and other learning-focused organizations dedicated to the use of new technologies.

 

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) includes San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, San Diego Miramar College, and San Diego Continuing Education.

 

 

Certificate Programs at North City Campus

 

Interactive Media Certificate Program (IMCP)

This 875-hour program covers the major software packages used in media arts production, divided into three modules. In Module One you’ll learn about image processing, print design, vector graphics and portfolio design. In Module Two you’ll add to your portfolio with new skills in sound editing, 3D production, video editing, motion graphics, an animation. In Module Three you’ll learn about web design and development and produce an online portfolio.

 

Web Server Maintenance and Security (WSMS)

This 875-hour program provides you with a strong foundation in the skills needed to work with web servers. You’ll learn about web server configurations, compilations, and security. This fast-paced and thorough class covers server software including an introduction to Linux, server-side programming, web databases, Perl, and more. The program was the first of its kind in California, and was recognized by the City of San Diego.

 

Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA)

The North City Campus is an authorized Cisco Academy, which delivers training to prepare you for the Cisco exams. This year-long program is divided into four separate, consecutive courses, which must be taken in order. Course One covers networking basics. Course Two covers routers and routing basics. Course Three covers switching basics and intermediate routing. Course Four covers WAN technologies.

 

Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician Preparation Course (MCSDT)

This 63-hour program will prepare you to pass Microsoft’s exams. The course covers: installing the Windows operating system, managing, configuring and troubleshooting access to resources, desktop and user environments, networking protocols, services, and applications; resolving issues related to usability and application customization; configuring and troubleshooting connectivity for applications; and application security.
